In recent years, the field of industrial machinery has used electrical controls to simplify mechanical systems, save labor, and reduce environmental impact. In this context, sensors required for electrical control are widely used. In order to facilitate the installation of sensors and realize the compactness of equipment, the market demand for bearings with sensors is also gradually increasing. Therefore, NTN has combined its own bearing technology with sensor technology to develop a series of bearings with rotary sensors.
Construction and Principles
The rotary sensor consists of a magnetic encoder (multipole magnet) and a magnetic sensor. The magnetic encoder is fixed on the inner ring (rotating ring) of the bearing, and the magnetic sensor is fixed on the outer ring (fixed ring) of the bearing.
When the shaft (inner ring) rotates, the magnetic encoder passes near the magnetic sensor, and the magnetic sensor outputs a signal (square wave) corresponding to the change in the magnetic poles (N pole, S pole) of the magnetic encoder.
The rotational speed can be obtained by performing arithmetic processing on the output signal. In addition, since the respective output signals of the A-phase and the B-phase form a phase difference of 90° (electrical angle) relative to each other, the rotation direction can be detected.
Example of main use
AC servo motor, DC servo motor, hydraulic motor, etc.
By using NTN bearings with rotation sensors, the rotational speed and direction of rotation of various motors can be detected.
This contributes to the compactness of the motor since the encoder does not need to be mounted outside the motor.
usage notice
1. Do not let objects charged with static electricity touch the top of the wire. The influence of static electricity may cause malfunctions.
2. Do not install in equipment that generates electromagnetic waves, and do not use this product around equipment that generates electromagnetic waves. It may malfunction due to the influence of electromagnetic waves.
3. Do not use it where life is at stake.
4. Establish safeguards such as backup systems for use in case of abnormal sensor signals.
5. Do not apply load to the sensing part.
6. Do not shock the bearing with rotary sensor.
7. Do not put load on the wire. Also, do not carry it by the wires.
8. Do not use it in an environment where water, oil, or other foreign matter (iron powder, dust) adheres to or penetrates into the bearing with the rotary sensor.
